We had a wonderful Christmas get-together today. Everyone brought home-made Christmas food. Impressive cooking skills all around!
Congrats to Sylwia on her PRELUDIUM grant
Sylwia did it again! After winning the Young Investigator Award from the Department of Biology last year, she has now been awarded a PRELUDIUM grant from the National Science Centre. She placed second out of thirty applications in her study section. The grant will support her efforts at deciphering protein transport to the primary cilium. Congratulations!
Welcome new lab members
Warm welcome to our new lab members. Brygida has started as a PhD student and will work on Gli phosphorylation and the role of cilia in Hedgehog signaling. Ania has recently defended her PhD at the Nencki institute and has come to our lab as a postdoc. She will spearhead work on Hh-dependent ubiquitination and Gli-mediated transcription. Klaudia is a Masters student and will carry out her thesis project on Gli proteins in our lab. Their bios are coming soon to the People page.
LMCS at the Bio2018 conference
The lab went to the Bio2018 conference in Gdansk. We really enjoyed the science, but made sure to take advantage of the wonderful weather as well.
A new grant for the lab
We have just been awarded over 2 million PLN from National Science Centre in the OPUS 14 contest! Time to grow our team and work on exciting new directions. The work that was funded is on the regulation of the activity of Gli proteins by the ubiquitin-proteasome system in normal cells and in cancer. Congrats to the whole lab who contributed to the effort and also to other labs from CeNT who got grants in this edition. As is our custom, we celebrated with champagne and strawberries 😉
Happy hour barbecue
Welcome new lab members
LMCS has two new lab members! Tomek, who did his internship with us for a few months, has officially joined the lab as a graduate student, and Kasia came as a postdoctoral fellow. Both have experience working in biomedical labs in Poland and abroad (France, Sweden, Qatar). Check out their profiles on the People page. Welcome!
Paper in collaboration with Proszynski lab published
Krzysztof Bernadzki from the Proszynski lab is the lead author on a new paper that we collaborated on with the Proszynski lab. The paper was just published in Scientific Reports – this is really exciting news. Congrats to all the coauthors and thanks to Tomek for the opportunity to contribute to the work!
